Guide
Installation of the
PCI Card
To avoid possible damage to your modem card, touch the metal
classis of your PC system to remove static charge from your person, and then
remove your ADSL card from the protective anti-static bag. Please follow the
instructions below to install your ADSL Modem card.

Shut down your
computer and switch the power off.

Unplug the power
cord for your computer from the electrical outlet.

Remove the cover from
your systems chassis (see your PC manufacturer’s manual).

Unscrew
"slot cover bracket" from an unused PCI (usually white in
color) slot.

Gently and evenly insert
the PCI modem card into your empty PCI slot.

Make sure the card
is firmly seated, and then secure the card with the bracket screw

Replace the cover
of your computer system.

Connect the
ADSL/phone line to the connector port on the modem card and plug the
other end of the cable into your ADSL/phone service.
Configuration of the
Drivers.
After installing the
Creative DSL PCI 7430 into the PC, power on the PC. Windows 98 Plug-and-Play
will auto-detect your DSL PCI 7430.
A ‘Add New Hardware
Wizard’ dialog box will appear to confirm the detection of a ‘PCI Network
Controller’. Click on Next to continue.
Another ‘Add New
Hardware Wizard’ dialog box appears. Select ‘Search for the best driver for
your device. (Recommended).’ Click on Next to continue.
A dialog box will then
appear searching for the DSL device driver. At this time, insert the provided
‘Creative DSL PCI 7430 Installation CD-ROM’ into your PC CD-ROM drive. Check
the ‘Specify a location’ selection box. Type in the device driver path as
shown, either D:\Drivers\Win98 or E:\Drivers\Win98, depending on your CD-ROM
drive location. Click Next to continue.
The next dialog box
appears to confirm the detection of the Creative DSL PCI 7430 device driver.
Click Next to proceed with the remaining driver installation process.
Windows will continue loading the DSL 7430 driver until a ‘Service Option’
dialog box is shown. To accept the default service option setting, click Next to
proceed with the installation process.
To Edit or change the
VCI & VPI setting click on the Advanced Button. The ‘Service Options’
window indicates the connection address (VPI and VCI values as shown below)
appears. Enter the VPI and VCI values provided by your ISP.
Windows will continue the installation of your DSL PCI modem device driver.
Finally, a dialog box will appear to confirm that you have successfully
completed the driver installation process.
Click on Finish.
At this time, Windows 98 will prompt you to restart your computer in order for
your new settings to take effect. Click on Yes to restart your computer.
Congratulations!
You have now successfully installed your Creative DSL PCI 7430 in Windows 98.
