Installation
Guide
The
Installation of the ADSL PCI Modem can be broken down into 5 parts:
-
Installation
of the PCI Card.
-
Installation
of the Drivers.
-
Configuration
of the Drivers.
-
Making
an ADSL Connection.
-
Updating
ADSL Modem Drivers.
Installation
of the PCI Card
To avoid possible damage to your
modem card, touch the metal classis of your PC system to remove static charge
from your person, and then remove your ADSL card from the protective anti-static
bag. Please follow the instructions below to install your ADSL Modem card.

Shut
down your computer and switch the power off.

Unplug
the power cord for your computer from the electrical outlet.

Remove
the cover from your systems chassis (see your PC manufacturer’s
manual).

Unscrew
"slot cover bracket" from an unused PCI (usually white in
color) slot.

Gently
and evenly insert the PCI modem card into your empty PCI slot.
-
Make
sure the card is firmly seated, and then secure
the card with the bracket screw
-
Replace
the cover of your computer system.
-
Connect
the ADSL/phone line to the connector port on the modem card and plug the
other end of the cable into your ADSL/phone
service.
Installation
of the Drivers
Depending
on the version of Windows you are running, you will be prompted for the drivers
disk for the PCI modem.
The
drivers need are the WAN DRIVERS, and these are located on the CD as
follows:
Windows
95: Conexant\Driver\Win95\WAN
Windows
98: Conexant\Driver\Win98_WinME_Win2K\WAN
Windows
ME: Conexant\Driver\Win98_WinME_Win2K\WAN
Windows
2000: Conexant\Driver\Win98_WinME_Win2K\WAN
Windows
XP: Conexant\Driver\Win98_WinME_Win2K\WAN
Windows
NT:Conexant\Driver\WinNt40\WAN
Once
the installation of the Drivers has finished, you may be prompted to restart
your computer.
Configuration
of the Drivers.
After
the installation of the drivers, you will have 2 new icons on your desktop.
The
drivers are configured using the AccessRunner Control Panel.
AccessRunner Control Panel

Double
Clicking on this Icon will bring up the ADSL Line Information Screen.

Pressing
<ALT + P> will bring up the configuration screen and will
allow you to configure the 'Line Setup', 'Protocol Setup' and 'Encapsulation Mode'.

Click
on the 'Line Setup' Tab.

Choose
the Modulation type supported by your ADSL Provider. (UK) This will normally be
Automatic / G.DMT or ANSI T1.413 i2 .
Click
on the 'Protocol Setup' Tab.

Edit
the VPI, VCI and Encapsulation Mode, as supported by your ADSL Provider.
(UK)
These will normally be:
VCI
: 38
VPI
: 0
Encapsulation
Mode: PPP over ATM VCMUX (RFC2364)
Some
users may need to reboot their PC for these setting to take effect.
Making
an ADSL Connection.
Double
click on the AccesRunner DSL Icon.

Enter
your User Name and Password supplied by your Internet / ADSL Service provider.
Then click Connect.

Your
User Name and Password with then be verified.

The
Internet Connection should now be established.

Updating
ADSL Modem Drivers.
Download
the latest drivers for your ADSL PCI modem. Extract the files into a temporary
folder.
To
update the ADSL Modem Drivers, you will need to completely Uninstall the
previous drivers.
Restart
you computer and the ADSL Modem should be
redetected,
when prompted for the drivers, browse to the
folder you extracted the new drivers into and follow the installation process
through.
When
the drivers have been installed, you will need to reconfigure, your VCI, VPI and
Encapsulation Mode, as listed above.
