Installation Guide

How to configure an ASUS PCI modem in WIN98SE

Model number AAM6001PI

These settings should work in WIN98, 98SE, 2000 and XP

Once the drivers have been installed and you have rebooted, you will see a new icon near your clock. Right click on it and select configuration.

You should see the below screen.

Click on "PVC Table", and you will see the below screen

Left click on the text, and select "edit". Note: I let it use ANSI T1.413 mode.

You edit the text to this below, then go back to the PVC Table screen, and Activate.

When it's all done, you should see the small icons near the clock flash red, then yellow black as the modem syncs with the exchange.

When you have 2 solid black icons, you are ready to connect

NOTE: Windows XP

There is another way of doing this in XP.

You can do it via Control Panel, System, Device Manager, then click on Network Adaptors then ADSL PCI NIC card. Highlight the ADSL PCI NIC, and select Properties, then go to the Advanced Tab. You will see all the options there for VPI, VCI, Framing and ModemOpMode.

Creating a connection for the ASUS PCI modem.

You will notice a new shortcut icon on your desktop called "ADSL PPPoA Connect".

Click on it, and you will see

Enter you username and password, and connect :)

The above configuration should work in any version of windows. ASUS have made this very easy. There is no need to go to "Dial up networking" to create a new connection, as it's all done for you.

The 2 pictures below, are the properties of the connection, for anyone wanting to create a connection using "Dial up networking".
